Springtime Tulle Wreath!

About a week ago, I found this on pinterest:

and decided I needed to make one...cause tulle! In happy sanguine colors! So of course...why not?

Supplies needed:
6 yards of 54" wide tulle (1 yard each color)- .77/yard
14" wire wreath frame- $1.79
Total cost: $6.41

Cut each yard into quarter yard (9") strips, layer and fold them a couple times (to make the cutting time shorter) and then cut into 2" strips. Repeat for each color...*insert grumble about the staticy-ness of tulle*...
Now have a comfortable seat cause this is the time consuming part...
Because I like symmetry in projects, I chose to do a pattern so it was easier to repeat and get a good overall color combination.
So grab a strip, fold in half, push the loop down, under, and up around of the wire lines, and grab the two ends through the loop, pull to tighten. Essentially knotting the tulle around the wire. (Sorry, the pictures of this process turned out horribly)
Grab the next color and repeat. And repeat. And repeat.

Through some trial and error, I found using only the middle 2 wires to work best.
See? Happy knots. Also, 7 repeats of 6 colors easily fit in each wire section.
Making progress. Slowly but surely.

Continue in this way until you've filled all the sections, fluff the tulle around, hang and enjoy!

It was very easy to make and mine only took about 3 hours...would've been shorter if I'd been more focused, but my fall-back project movies are Lord of the Rings and the battles always distract me :-)

Happy Crafting!!!

  4. Love this style of wreath using the tulle fabric, so many color combinations can be used for all occasions. BTW the knot used to tie the tulle strips is called a "slip knot", just for those who are wondering what kind of knot being used. HAPPY CRAFTING!!

  5. Looks so fluffy and I love all the colors. And the knot used is a larks head knot.
